Mobile tyre fitting at Halfords is a convenient way to get new tyres fitted quickly by our trusted experts. There’s no need to visit a garage as we come directly to you at work or home. We cover 80% of the UK, so you’re never too far away from one of our vans and we’re available 7 days a week.

What’s included in the tyre fitting price?

There’s no charge for mobile tyre fitting when you order two or more tyres, whether they're budget or premium tyres. New valves, wheel balancing, and VAT is included. We charge customers £3.00 per tyre purchased to responsibly dispose of their old ones which we automatically add the fee for online bookings. When our fitter is changing your tyres, please let them know you want to keep your tyres and we will process a refund of the fee.

Is mobile tyre fitting available in my area?

Our vans currently cover over 80% of UK households, including parts of London. To book our mobile fitting van in your area, simply book your tyres online here and select We'll Come to You when adding tyres to your basket.

Is mobile tyre fitting available at weekends and evenings?

We fit 7 days a week, from 8am until 8pm, at your home or at work.

What if I need to book something else as well as tyres?

Our mobile technicians also carry out a range of other services from battery replacements to windscreen chip repairs. However, if your car is due an MOT and service, it may be more convenient to have your tyres fitted at your local Halfords garage. Our mobile technicians can also carry out mobile battery replacements, oil changes, windscreen chip repairs and more (to find out more click here). Can I have my tyres fitted at a garage instead?

If you'd prefer to have your tyres fitted at a Halfords Autocentre, select your local tyre fitting garage via the Drop off in Garage open when adding tyres to your basket.

Should I change four tyres at once?

Most manufacturers of four-wheel drive vehicles recommend that you change all four tyres at once. This is because a discrepancy between the tyres can cause issues with the power sent to each wheel, which in the long run can lead to a burn out of the drivetrain. For the advice of your specific manufacturer, please check your owner’s manual.

For front or rear-wheel drive vehicles, it’s advised that you change tyres in axle pairs – either both of the rear or front tyres for optimum performance on the road. Plus, when you order two or more tyres, there’s no charge for mobile tyre fitting, so it’ll save money and keep your tyres even.

Can I get my wheels balanced?

If you are purchasing new tyres from us, wheel balancing is automatically included within the price and does not need to be purchased separately.

Can I get other services done?

Our mobile technicians can carry out a range of services as well as tyre fitting. This includes battery replacements, fluid top ups, windscreen treatments and repairs, plus many more.

Can mobile tyre fitters do tracking?

Every one of our mobile fitting vans is equipped with a state-of-the-art balancing machine capable of balancing wheels from 10 inches all the way up to 30 inches in diameter!

How long does mobile tyre fitting take?

Typically changing a car tyre requires at least 30-40 minutes per tyre, although there is no set time per tyre. The reason it is difficult to provide an exact time is that each tyre fitment can vary depending on a tyre’s size, the size of your vehicle’s wheels and the vehicle itself along with the space available to our mobile technicians.

Can I replace just one tyre?

We always recommend that you replace all four tyres at the same time, unless you require a puncture repair. At a minimum, we strongly advise all customers to always replace tyres across the same axle - either both of the rear or front tyres for optimum performance on the road.

We know you lead a busy life and taking time out of your day to have new tyres fitted can be an inconvenience. Luckily, at Halfords, we aim to make tyre fitting a hassle-free experience with our mobile tyre fitting service.

What is Halfords Mobile expert?

Formally known as Tyres on the Drive, Halfords Mobile Expert aims to fit and repair tyres as quickly as possible to get you back on the road. Simply book your car in for a two hour slot at a time and place of your choosing and our friendly and expert mobile tyre fitters will come round to fit your new wheels for free (if you’ve bought two or more tyres). Our service is available seven days per week to give you the added convenience of having your new tyres fitted at your home or at work - the choice is yours.

How do I book mobile tyre fitting?

The mobile tyre fitting service is available to more than 80% of UK households, so the chances are we’ll be able to get you up and running on your new wheels in no time at all. Simply enter your postcode at the start of the booking process and we’ll be able to tell you if we cover your area. Even if we can’t get someone out to you, we offer the same free fitting service at any of our 600+ Halfords Autocentres, so you can pop into one of our garages if that’s more convenient.
