Caravan awnings and accessories FAQs
To measure up for a caravan awning, you’ll need what’s called the A-measurement. That’s the distance from the ground on one side of your caravan, up and around the awning rail, and back down to the ground on the other side. The easiest way to do this is with a length of string or a flexible tape measure. Park your caravan on level ground and measure along the full curve of the rail. The measurement obtained (in cm) will allow you to select the right awning size based on the manufacturer's size chart.
Resealing a caravan awning rail entails stripping out the existing sealant, cleaning the area properly, and applying a good-quality waterproof sealant. Start by unscrewing or slackening the rail (if necessary), scraping off the dirt, old sealant, and residue, and then running a bead of caravan sealant along the mounting surface. Refit the rail and clamp down firmly to create a close, watertight seal. Leave to cure as instructed by the sealant manufacturer.
Caravan awnings are not completely universal since their fit is make, model, and size-specific for your caravan. Although there are some porch awnings that can fit almost all caravans because of their adjustable height and width, full awnings need an identical match to your caravan's A-measurement. We have a wide variety of awnings to fit various caravan types at Halfords, making it easy to get the perfect fit for your next getaway.
