The Major Hybrid Service and MOT is our most comprehensive hybrid product, and covers parts that are regularly recommended for replacement every two years.

Our technicians go through rigorous technical training to ensure we're best equipped to properly service and maintain your hybrid car, so you can relax knowing your vehicle is in safe hands with us.

We recommend booking a Major Hybrid Service every two years to prevent any electrical or mechanical faults with your hybrid vehicle.

Q. What hybrid car service should I choose?

Our three levels of hybrid service are designed to meet the needs of all cars, whatever their condition.

Interim Service - 6 month vehicle service

This 6 month, 54-point service is designed for the high mileage car user, or where the manufacturer recommends more frequent checks between annual services. This service includes an oil and filter change, top ups of essential fluids, as well as brake, steering and suspension checks (by removing the wheels).

Full Service - 12 month vehicle service

This is a comprehensive annual service for trouble free motoring. It exceeds most manufacturers' service schedules, and includes 81 checks and adjustments including an air filter change, a top up of brake fluid, power steering fluid and coolant. High quality parts are used and we check and record wear and tear items using a colour code reporting system, to give you peace of mind.

Major Service - 24 month vehicle service

This 24 month complete service covers all areas of essential maintenance. In addition to all the items included in our Interim and Full Services, the Major Service covers items that are regularly recommended for replacement every two years, including your cabin filter and brake hydraulic fluid.

In addition to all of the regular checks carried out as part of our Interim, Full and Major Services, Hybrid Servicing includes:

Q. What hybrid vehicles do you service?

Our highly skilled, hybrid trained technicians are able to carry out complex servicing on all makes and models of hybrid vehicle.

Every one of our hybrid trained technicians goes through rigorous technical training to ensure we’re best equipped to properly service and maintain your hybrid vehicle. Q. What should I bring with me?

There are a few things you'll need to bring with you on the day, to make sure your Car Service goes smoothly:

Alloy wheel keys or locking nuts

As part of your Car Service, our technicians will need to remove your wheels to inspect the condition of your steering and suspension systems. Please bring your locking nuts with you, so that our team can carry out your Service without delay (we'll need to remove your wheels to do this).

An empty boot

Our technicians will inspect the condition and tread depth of your spare tyre, which is usually located under the boot of the car. Please empty your boot of luggage and other heavy items before you arrive at the Autocentre.

Your service book

We'll need to check when you last had certain items replaced, such as spark plugs, brake fluid and cabin filters. This information is stored in your service book - please bring it with you so that we have everything we need to properly assess your car on the day.

A V5C registration form (for your first MOT only)

If your vehicle is undergoing its first MOT then a V5C vehicle registration certificate (log book) is required, this document is also required if your vehicle has had a change of registration plate since its last MOT. In all other instances no documentation is required.

Q. What happens if my car fails its MOT?

If your car fails its MOT, it must be repaired and retested. You may not legally be able to drive your car on the road until the repairs have been made and a certificate has been issued. Most repairs can be carried out onsite at the test centre on the same day, and we will always advise you upfront about any work that needs to be done.

Q. Do you use high quality parts?

Yes,all of our parts are of Original Equipment (OE) quality, and we use the correct oil grades for your car, every time.

Q. Is the work guaranteed?

We have total confidence in the quality of the parts we use and the work carried out by our expert technicians. That's why all work is guaranteed for up to 24,000 miles or 2 years. Find out more about our guarantees.

Q. Do you offer a manufacturer's service?

If you'd prefer a manufacturer's service, contact your local Halfords Autocentre for a free, no-obligation quote.

Q. How long will a service take?

The time taken to complete a Service will depend on which service is booked. We do not offer a specific slot for our Services and we do recommend dropping the vehicle off at either 8:30am or 11:30am and leaving the vehicle at the autocentre. Our technicians will contact you when your car is ready to collect or provide you with a quote if any further work needs carrying out.

Q. What is the consumables fee and why and when is it charged?

Whilst completing more complex work on customers’ vehicles, we use a range of consumable items to meet the needs of the job. Examples of such consumable items include protective seat and steering wheel covers, maintenance and penetration sprays, greases and lubricants, top-up fluids, rags, degreasers, and gloves.

The £3 consumables fee, which includes VAT, will only apply on bigger jobs like brake and clutch work, steering and suspension tasks, vehicle servicing and timing belt jobs. The consumables fee is waived if the transaction also includes a tyre and a tyre environmental disposal fee.

Q. I never used to see a charge for consumable items. Why are you charging me separately now for these items?

With prices rising for garage consumables, we’ve now updated the way we break down the total job price to highlight the cost of consumable items to customers, whenever the fee applies.
