Designed in California

The Dahon brand was created in the 1980’s with the simple aim of designing folding bikes without compromise to rideability. “Freedom Unfolds” is the Dahon principle, that's why each Dahon model is carefully designed to meet the needs of the rider.

Dahon philosophy is that foldable bicycles can, and should, deliver ride performance as good as or better than a traditional bike. Dahon is a US brand of folding bikes based in Illinois founded by Dr. David Hon and is the largest manufacturer of folding bikes in the world with over 5 million being ridden today.

The technology behind Dahon patents for frame and wheel configurations, metal alloys and folding mechanisms and use of market leading components is what has made Dahon the biggest brand in the world of folding bikes.

Designed for Me

Hi I'm Matilda and I live in Cambridgeshire and work in London. I ride to and from the station each day and then commute on the train with my Dahon Mariner; I ride everywhere else one once I get to Kings Cross. The Mariner is the real workhorse of the Halfords Dahon range so fits my lifestyle perfectly.

I use it everyday for my commute so it needs to be quick to fold, durable, fully loaded and comfortable to ride for up to 45 minutes at a time on inner city roads, tracks and paths. I use it for up to six local rides in London each day between labs, studios and offices. On each journey I unfold and fold it – that’s a lot of pressure on the hinges and folding parts.

I do not want it to let me down. The Mariner feels solid and gives me confidence to ride it on different surfaces; sometimes quickly if I am running late! It also has a nice paint job which makes it stand out from the crowd. My Dahon Mariner is a lovely subtle shade of Pink.

Designed for Rideability

Dahon folding bikes have 20 inch wheels which makes them perfect for everything from short city commutes through to longer rides in the countryside. Having larger wheels provides the Dahon with improved steering, and rideability, meaning that the cycling experience is improved.

The patented Dahon folding design allows the bike to be easily stored and unfolded for riding. With a Dahon you get the riding experience and feel of a traditional bike with all the benefits of easy transportation and storage. By focusing on rideability by making bicycles that are easier and more convenient to use, Dahon aims to help increase the number of people able to fit cycling into their lives.

That’s why you’ll find there’s a DAHON folding bike that’s right for virtually every individual, and for every situation.

So"fa" comfortable

Whether you are commuting to work, or cycling for leisure, the bike you ride should be comfortable and a pleasure to use.

Dahon bikes are designed to be a practical and fun part of your life which means that comfort is key.

Whilst we cannot claim the comfort of a sofa, we get close! Through use of 20 inch wheels, innovative seats, premium quality components and a wide range of gearing, your Dahon will comfortably take you where ever you are riding to.

Designed for Life

Dahon started the folding bike revolution creating the world’s first folding bicycle small enough to fit under a train seat. With continuous innovation over the last 35 years and 220+ patents DAHON is the leader in folding bike technology, changing the way people experience cycling.

No more needing to remove wheels to fit your bike into the car or having to store your bike in a separate carriage on the train. With a Dahon you can fold and unfold and continue with your journey. Dahon folding bikes have won numerous design competitions around the world.

Enjoy all the benefits of a bike that conveniently folds without compromising on ride experience. A Dahon bike is great for the adventurous cyclist, city slicker, party animal, sunday bruncher, or weekday commuter; in fact Dahon has the perfect bike to suit your lifestyle.

The above images and description serve as an example. Current disruption in the global supply network mean that specific components may not be available. If that occurs, we may replace those components with similar parts of the same or higher quality, provided that any such substitutions do not negatively affect the overall quality or use of the product.
